Alberto Urroz is one of the most brilliant and versatile of his generation Spanish musicians, acclaimed pianist with an international career as a soloist, active performer of chamber music, piano accompanist of great singers in recital and dance companies and dancers in prestigious festivals. Founder and artistic director of the International Music Festival Mendigorría, is also a producer and creator of multidisciplinary performances that include music, art and dance. He is a founding member of the delegation in Spain of EPTA, European Piano Teachers Association, a leading association based in London, which is currently vice president. Exerts pianistic pedagogy at the University Alfonso X el Sabio of Madrid since 2015, at the Conservatorio Arturo Soria Madrid since 2002 as head of department key and recognized educator and visiting professor at various international festivals and universities in Spain, Norway, South Korea and the United States. Concerned about the new generations, has organized the presentation of young talent at venues such as the Conde Duque, the Royal Conservatory and the Music Foundation Pons Madrid.
Born in Pamplona in 1970, Alberto Urroz began his musical training in the family. He graduated brilliantly in the chair of piano of Joaquín Soriano at the Madrid Royal Conservatory. He continues his training at the Rubin Academy of Tel-Aviv University with Pnina Salzman and later in New York with Oxana Yablonskaya. He has been a student of Solomon Mikowsky and Donn-Alexander Feder at Manhattan School of Music where he received a Master in Piano and worked with teachers György Sándor, Fanny Waterman, Ana Maria Ena Bronstein and Trenchi. He was winner of Jeunesses Musicales Madrid in 1993 and a grant from the Prince of Viana of the Government of Navarra Institution from 1995 to 1998 and from the University of Hartford (Connecticut) in 1999. The latter year he returned to Madrid, graduating in third cycle by the Faculty of Education, Musical and Corporal Expression of the Complutense University of Madrid.
A successful debut at Carnegie Hall in New York in 2008, promotes his career in America, Asia and Europe, performing concerts in several Spanish cities and Seoul (South Korea), Strasbourg (France), Atlanta (USA), Oslo (Norway ), London (England), Naples (Italy), among other places. Since his debut with the Orchestra Pablo Sarasate in 1999, Urroz has been requested by major Spanish cultural institutions such as the International Festival of Santander and Peralada, Auditorio Nacional de Madrid, Museo del Prado, Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando, Foundation Juan March, Conde Duque, Gayarre Theatre, Baluarte Auditorium Festival puigcerda etc., and international as The City University of New York, Spanish Foundation for Iberian Music, Georgia State University, Opus Music, festivals Canals and Hyères (Cultural Center France), German Embassy, Italian Cultural Institute (Madrid and Strasbourg), etc.
In 2004 he founded the International Music Festival Mendigorría, receiving huge media attention and rave reviews from the start. As artistic director of the festival, it has promoted a very careful programming, with particularly aimed at educating the public and focus away from commercial interests.
Urroz collaborates with renowned artists such as Oxana Yablonskaya, Pedro Leon, Vadim Tchijik, Andión Fernandez, Jeffrey Ching, Laure de Marcellus, the Azerbaijan State Choir, the New York company Dance Theatre of Harlem and many other brilliant musicians of his generation.
