Umberto Scipione was born in Gaeta on May 27, 1960. The son and grandson of musicians (his father played in the rhythmic orchestra of Rai and his grandfather Umberto had a music band in Formia) studied piano, clarinet and composition from an early age, combined classical studies wih the activity of musician in nightclubs of his city. Finishing high school he enrolled at DAMS of Bologna.

In 1978 he graduated from the Conservatory of Santa Cecilia in Rome. In 1979 he began teaching in Gaeta. His concert and conductors activity led him to travel the world in collaboration with his brother Hugh (flutist), and his sister Lara (pianist).

In 1984 he is professor at the Conservatory of Music in Reggio Calabria, then taught at the Conservatory of Frosinone and, in 2009, he was assigned professor of clarinet at the Conservatory “Santa Cecilia” in Rome. Over the years produces many publications teaching on the study of this tool.

Parallel to teaching activity he proceeds with the activity as a composer, ranging from classical to pop music to jazz music, and as record producer with the label Zarvel Music, of which he is founder and artistic director.

He  works as a composer in the documentary field and broadcasting systems with results of more than 200 soundtracks for documentaries, short films, radio dramas.
