International Internet Music Competition “Melos” is organized by the Cultural Association «Melos» with the aim of the development of international musical culture and of finding and encouraging talented musicians.
It is held in the Academic Hall of the Pontifical Institute of Sacred Music (Rome, Piazza Sant'Agostino, 20/a, .
REGULATIONS
Art. 1
The competition is open to instrumentalists and singers of any nationality without age limits; soloists or groups.
Art. 2 Sections
- Piano (soloists, assembles for 4 hands, two pianos)
- Organ (soloists, assembles for 4 hands)
- Strings (soloists and groups)
- Wind Instruments (soloists and groups)
- Percussion (soloists and groups)
- Folk Instruments (soloists and groups)
- Singing- art, folk (soloists and groups)
- Chamber and orchestral music
Art. 3 Category and program
Categories for soloists e duets (Age on the date 01/04/2016)
- Category «Free»: up to 7 years old – free program with a maximum duration of 5 minutes
- Category A : 8 – 9 years old – Free program with a maximum duration of 5 minutes
- Category B : 10 – 11 years old free program with a maximum duration of 7 minutes
- Category C : 12 – 13 years old – free program with a maximum duration of 10 minutes
- Category D: 14 – 15 years old – free program with a maximum duration of 10 minutes
- Category E: 16 – 17 years old – free program with a maximum duration of 15 minutes
- Category F: 18 – 19 years old – free program with a maximum duration of 15 minutes
- Category G: from 20 years old – free program with a maximum duration of 15 minutes
For soloists it is required to perform by heard. For organists and duets it is not obligatory to perform by heard.
Categories for groups
- Category A : up to 11 years old- free program with a maximum duration of 7 minutes
- Category B: 12 – 15 years old – free program with a maximum duration of 10 minutes
- Category C : 16 – 19 years old – free program with a maximum duration of 15minutes
- Category D: from 20 years old – free program with a maximum duration of 15 minutes
It will be considered the average age of the group members.
It is not obligatory to perform by heard.
Art. 4 Jury, scores, rewarding
The jury consists of the prominent musicians, professors of Rome conservatory “Santa Cecilia”. The jury's decision is final and non appealable.
Final score is derived as the sum of the arithmetic average of the scores of all the judges on a 100- point scale.
GRAND PRIZE – with the highest number of points not less than 98/100. It is one in every category.
FIRST PRIZE – from 90 to 100 points
SECOND PRIZE – from 80 to 90 points
THIRD PRIZE – from 70 to 80 points
DIPLOMA OF PARTICIPATION – to all the other participants
The jury has the right to award an unlimited number of prizes in each category.
